Liberal Haters

This is a post from my Wordpress blog Stay A While, along with the comments. I decided to duplicate my Wordpress blog comments (along with all comments) on Blogger for posterity. Also because I lost my Wordpress password and haven't been able to recover my account. So I just copied everything over and changed the publish dates. Anyway, enjoy.

UPDATE:

Today I was told by Tom Cat that if I used the word "Obamamanic" again on his blog I would be banned from his blog. He does not need to ban me I won't return. He claimed he warned me before of using this word-that's a lie. It's a waste of time to talk with such intolerant tiny minds. I mean this idiot writes a supposed liberal political blog, but bans people for using Obamamaniac? Wow! I should not be surprised. This is the same idiot who when I described being attacked by Obamamaniacs (the same mentioned in this post below) accused me of attacking him. (?)

He claimed I was the only liberal in the country being attacked by other liberals. Really? That makes sense to him I guess, he only reads Obamamaniacs for his facts. What a fool. He said I was wrong when describing LBJ as an arm twisting President. He said LBJ never pressured Senators to vote his way on a bill. Really? This is the kind of uneducated moron that people get information from? He supports the kind of hate attacks I've been getting.

No surprise since Leslie is his buddy. This egomaniac has to update his readers about his daily bad health, to solicit stroking good words from his readers. Sad. His blog, like Sue's, is nothing but hate filled writings about Republicans. He and Leslie write about how current Republicans are just like the pre WW II Nazis. Really? Open a History book moron! Ron Paul in not Gerbles. Romney is not the butcher of Auschwitz. The rest of the Republicans are not brown shirts. or Hitler like politicians.

This is driven by fear folks. It's silly Jr. High clique crap. It's easy to laugh at these bigots, but they take themselves seriously and try to (succeed) form lies to become truth. Their delusional truth. They see Obama as some kind of political messiah. They fear truth and openness. As his final act TC censored me and then blocked me from his blog. Afraid I guess that my words might make him look like more of an ass than he is. Not possible. He prays to an Orb. Should have guessed.

These lefty nut jobs are nuttier than righty nut jobs by far, and filled with much more hate.

Funny, they attack my blog with hate, but claim I'm the hater. They call me bitter, but they are the ones who constantly write only negative about Republicans and anyone who disagrees with Obama's decisions.

They can't see through their cloud of hate. It is hate and bitterness to write everyday about how Republicans are liars, fuckers, Nazis, and worse. I wonder how they can be so negative everyday?

Try writing about how Obama could be better instead of writing hate everyday. Try writing about how good Obama is instead of writing hate and negativity about Republicans everyday. Try seeing the positive instead of the negative. Try writing about how much better we could be instead of writing liar everyday.

Read Sue's blog. It is nothing but hate, hate, hate everyday, every post. She sends the hate mail I've been getting for months, yet I'm the hater she claims.

It's clear to see who the hate filled, bitter people are. They write nothing but hate, negativity, swear words, and their own lies everyday.

They have nothing to say about the positive side of things, only negativity about anything everyday.

I have posted many times about their attacks on me, and have posted their hate mail. They are having to much fun with their negativity and hate. They have kept their attacks on me going for months. They love their hate. They revel in their hate. You can only belong to their cliche if you hate the same way they hate. They write their hate on my Astronomy posts, not my political posts. That's hate. That's going out of their way to hate.

Bitterness belongs to those who write negativity and hate everyday. Being close minded is the trait of those who can find no fault in the person, or thing they support. Humans are not perfect, but they write their leader (Obama) can do no wrong. They believe that one person is a political messiah. They are bitter, hate filled, and wrong. Wrong about their leader. Wrong about their behavior to protect their leader. Truly, politically immature and personally immature.

It seems the followers of "hope and change" have no hope and expect no change. Of course not, they are to wrapped up in their hate.

The Hate Gets Worse

Subject: Liberal Haters.

I'm still getting hate mail from my so called fellow liberals.

Those of you who read the last post on the hate tactics being used against me saw the threat I received from Beach Bum (Sue's buddy) and the other comments from those who are getting the same treatment from Sue and her minions.

Now Sue is making fun of my serious illness on her blog.

She wishes me death, nice.

Shows what a real despicable, hate filled person she is.

And those like John M., Beach Bum and the rest of her minions obviously agree with that kind of hate filled behavior.

I love the MADE UP comments she posted that I supposedly wrote.

A very hate filled sick mind.

And those who approve of her tactics, are no better.

All because I told Obama to get off his fat ass.

She is worse than any Republican.

I guess people enjoy her swear word, name calling comments she leaves at any blog she visits. That's her hate filled style.

And these open minded(?) liberals defend her words and actions.

If you can't see the wrong in her behavior you should talk to your mother’s about it, because you need direction on what’s right and wrong.

Just the Facts!: Tom,
I saw your link on Dubyas blog and made the jump.
In order to be clear in my position, I am a conservative. l am posting to wish you harm. I am posting this because as a conservative I am stunned on how mean and viscous the left can be when then feel one of their own has gone off the campus. It is as you stated.
What also stuns me is how for the last 18 months left leaning blogs have been blasting the President for not being tough or left enough. On these blogs I stated several times they would in the end, become buddies and useful tools in the Obama campaign in 2012. Just as i predicted this has happen.
What I didn’t predict was what you experienced for giving your view that was in the smallest bit, not flattering to the President.
I always thought it was the liberal who had an open tent view of the world while the conservative was painted as being closed to all but a few. But your experience and from what I have seen of the Occupy Was Street movement, there is little margin if any at all for different view points within the landscape of the left. So much for liberal inclusion and diversity of all people!
I fear the progressives, left and liberals are being uses as tools to gain the political goals of the President and his small group of handlers. Goals that 18 months ago, the left was not happy with. Goals which I really beleive are self serving.

Anyway, I wish you a healthy and happy fall.

HATE

Subject: Liberal Haters.

It never surprises me where hate comes from. Liberal, conservative, no matter, they both hate and write their hate clearly.

On her blog (Leslie Parsely) calls Republicans Nazis and her buddy Sue (Hello Mr. President) agrees.

I've been getting hate mail from Sue for weeks now, and just got another today. She uses anonymous names like "from one of the nice people" and goes on with her dirty word attack on me.

It all reminds me of years ago (on one of my past blogs) when I was called a traitor for being against the invasion of Iraq.

More equal to the group liberal blog (The Peace Train) which I helped start. One of the authors wrote a three page (detailed) article on how Bush (Cheney and his other administrators) was/were Nazis, and of course Bush was Hitler. I wrote a comment on how stupid it was to compare Bush to Hitler, or his administers to Nazis. I was summarily banned from that blog. I didn't fall in line with the hate message.

As I have been banned from Leslie's blog and Sue's blog, for writing on my blog, that Obama should get off his fat ass. That banning was followed by numerous hate mail, which I still get today. Sue wrote most of the hate mail, but Leslie and Sue's minions have sent many letters of hate. That mail is full of the most vulgar language, and all came anonymous (cowards). I replied (with my ID) in kind.

This is not political disagreement. This is hate, just as it was hate calling Bush Hitler.

If you have read Sue's blog you know she is a fouled mouth Obamamaniac. She calls Republicans and Democrats who disagree with her and the President – morons, stupid, Nazis, and every other name in the book.

Seems the Nazi like behavior, is those who attack with hate, anyone's opinion, that does not agree with them.

I don't think I should be attacked for saying the President should get off his fat ass and do something, especially if I write that on my blog, not theirs.

So here we go again, with the hate. The Nazi comparisons. The hate mail. The idiotic strategy, that hate will sway anyone, or is an acceptable means of communicating with each other, or a way to get people to vote for your God (Obama) candidate.

According to Sue and Leslie, I am the idiot. I must express hate for Republicans, or I'm to be attacked and banned. Reminds me of that Bush saying, "your either with us, or against us".

Of course, if I'm not with their hate, then I will be a target of their hate.

Follow their hate if you want. I won't. I won't be intimidated. I don't care if I'm banned from a blog. I certainly won't agree that hate is the way to go. I feel sorry for Sue and others that wake up everyday and think about the nastiest thing they can say about a Republican, then think of the nastiest thing they can send to my blog and email.

These are people with sad lives, and hurting the dialogue that should be going on between those who disagree politically.

I don't see, or hear this kind of hate coming out of the President, so Leslie and Sue follow their own hate filled hearts, not Obama's strategy for the election.

RN attacked my blog last Summer with the same kind of hate.
In the past I have been attacked by other conservatives with hate.
The point is "hate" not political disagreement.

Sue is very aggressive and that is no secret. Leslie recently posted a piece about how both sides, conservatives and liberals are too aggressive. I was a bit surprised to hear this about her.

Jolly Roger: Actually, the Nazi comparisons are valid. They tortured people, started wars for nothing, whipped up racial and religious hatred, and tried to funnel as much money as they could get their hands on to a few rich cronies of theirs. This is very much in keeping with Nazi methodology.

Beyond that, I hear you. I have been ridiculed, banned, and demonized by a whole bunch of supposed libruls because I didn't sing the patriotic song. I'm probably as unwelcome on as many left blogs now as I am on winger blogs. Matters not; I don't live to please anyone, save my family and my German Shepherd dog.

Yes, Obama is a spineless wimp and the republicans show more in common everyday with German Brown Shirts of the early 1930's but instead of liberals calling each other nasty names and pouting someone with some damn clout needs to get us out into the streets protesting if not rioting.

It blows my mind to hear stories about how the republicans are passing laws throughout the country making it damn near impossible for minorties to vote. dmarks: Tom: Rush Limbaugh is the most famous figure on the political scene who can barely speak or write a sentence without some supposedly witty insult directed at those who don't share his political views. Conservative commentators Mark Levin and Michael Medved are similar. Medved thought it was so cute to call Gen. Wesley Clark "Weasely" every time he spoke of him.

And on the left, Molly Ivins comes to mind. She had loads of cutesey insults, and loved to make fun of Texas Gov. Rick Perry's hair to the detriment of discussing substantial issues. And the left-wing bloggers you have issues with do the same. It really drags down the level and effectiveness of their arguments.

I was heartened to learn of your concern for my life in general. I feel bad for being so naive about the haters when it is you, not they, that is wishing me well.

Therefore, I am committed to redoubling my efforts in this matter, with a more thorough investigation. I will ask Sue again if she is the culprit, and I will tell her that I need her to be absolutely sure before she answers. I will let you know what this more thorough investigation reveals.

As for your addresses, they are very compelling indeed. However, if Sue is behind the hate I am pretty sure she will know all about it, as she will have caught herself in the act. I cannot think of a more authentic source in which to place my faith than that of an eye witness.

Again, I know you need to get this matter behind you and I am truly compassionate, now that I know you are concerned about me also. Fear not, sir, Myste is on the job.

John Myste: I will answer your questions in no particular order: Yes, no, no, yes. I am not sure if that is right, but I think it is. I am in a long sleep drought, so everything is a little more confusing than normal. I will have Sue supply the missing details, lest I miss anything.

I am a writer for Mad Mike's America, so I am sure... Hmm. That doesn't really mean anything at all, does it? Investigative journalism is so complex. Ever since FOX redefined the standards, we all have to suffer.

Just so you know, Herodotus is considered the Father of History, because of his journalistic prowess. He was the first historian to document his sources, for example:

Snoring Dog Studio: A lot of commenting about he said, she said. However, Tom, your premise and points are right on and I appreciated reading them. I'm sick of the name calling that barely substitutes for conversation these days. It's all about who can come up with the most clever pejorative. Never mind facts, information, true statements from the perpetrators. Leslie's blog is like so many other I'm coming across. (I just unsubscribed.) A few facts, then a lot of name calling. Demonizing and categorizing people we don't agree with. Don't mistake this: there are a lot of Republicans and TP members and a few Dems I find deplorable. But, as liberals who care about the common good, we're not going to sway any Independents or anyone on the fence with all this vitriol. People, we're in a desperate place now. We could well end up with Perry as the next POTUS. Do we really want that? If we don't tone down the dialogue soon and stop turning off people or entrenching them further in their camps, we're in big, big trouble.

Political Machine?

Subject: Obama sucks, Obamamaniacs.

Obama is on his bus tour.

Good to see his idea to connect with Americans, is no better an idea than the biggest idiot (Palin) in the field.

Many on the left have been waiting for Obama to talk about and put forth legislation to improve the lot (job bills, etc) of unemployed, starving Americans.

Obama is making the news headlines since his bus tour started, mostly about his programs to help Americans. These will be released in September. Job bills, tax cuts, and who knows what's in his program.

What a cynical politician he is.

The left has been begging him since before his election; What are you ideas, policies, and plans to get America going again. His party members have been screaming for a jobs bill. Where is it?

Now "at the start of the election" he is out telling us exactly what we want to hear. Why not years ago when his party was talking about FDR type work programs? Why not at the start of his administration, when he had majority?

It would have been easier then, than now with Republican majority. The best he can do now, is force the Republicans to vote against such a bill and hope the American people blame Republicans. But Republicans will just say we cannot afford that kind of program without raising taxes. And as the American people have done for a long time now, they will go along with the Republican's "no new tax" thinking. So nothing gets done.

Obama takes these safe positions on traditional Democratic policies. He's willing to talk about 4 trillion in spending cuts, knowing that will go nowhere, a straw man. He's willing to talk job bill now, when he knows it won't pass.

When has Obama ever challenged the Congress? Where is the traditional fight with a Congress of opposition? History shows that Presidents whose party did not have Congressional majority, did not just lay down, or appease their opposition. Hit the floors of Congress and fight for your policies and principles, that's traditional. I'm tired of excuses that say Obama can't get anything done because of asshole Republicans.

It's almost 3 years now, and his administration is looking like the Carter administration. No change, no control, not even a decent attempt at moving Congressional politics.

Now we will hear the Obama oratory. The promises, the common sense, the ideas; just as in 2007 and 2008. It will all sound so familiar, and it will be, because of course, it's campaign/election time. Everything Obama has done (or not done) was calculated for best chances to win reelection.

The Obamamaniacs will be out in force (already are) defending everything he does and has done, including renewing the Bush tax cuts. And using their dirty tricks to divide and discipline those outside the Presidential echo chamber.

There is no fight in this dog (Obama) nor is there any fight in the Democrats. Where is the Democratic challenger to Obama. Where will the debate inside the Democratic party have its voice? I guess they are taking a book from the Republicans: goose-step, in line attitudes only, no difference of opinion, and certainly not voiced publicly. Bernie Sanders should run for President, just to provide the platform for the debate.

Political machines used to get things done, even though they were corrupt. According to Obamamaniacs, Obama is so clean, that we should trade that for any real action, and be happy it's not President Bachmann were dealing with. What a choice for the leader of the free World, an idiot, or the do nothing President.

Tell the people what they want to hear, it's election time!

JollyRoger: It's the perfect cover if you love the status quo and don't want it to change. He had a chance between 2009-2011 to actually swing hard at the problem, and he didn't even chip at it. NOW, he can swing as hard as he wants to, and then cry about his pals not going along with him.

There it is, the priority of 99.9% of the political class. If serving the interests of the economic elites is what it takes then damn the public. All while the corporatist parties claim to care half a crap about the rest of us. American must fail in order to revive. And the odds are against revival because the true owners will not be removed from power.

Time for a new Constitution and a new country.

TOM WordPress: Those who believe in the liberal government (and the services it provides) have known for a long time how out of control the bureaucracy has become, and seriously wanted to reform and make those programs more cost effective, more efficient, and responsive to the people.
That thinking was lost when the opposition decided (stated publicly) that they wanted those kind of programs eliminated, not just reformed. The only stance for Democrats, is to defend the decades old programs. Certainly there is no good outcome of negotiating reform of those programs with those whose goal, is to eliminate those programs.
It’s the type of government Americans wanted in the 1930's (proven by FDR's four election wins) and reinforced with LBJ's programs of the 1960″s.
The difference is, that our generation no longer wants to pay what that kind of society costs (expensive),
I am a liberal. I understand the extra cost of such a society and am willing to pay. The stability of the country depends on it, and that's what previous generations understood, after trying tom live without such basic help from the government.
It is out of hand, but the answer to that, is to not just eliminate the programs. If waste and high cost that is our reason to stop a program, then all government programs should be stopped/eliminated. I don't believe our government should just be destroyed.
Republicans since the 1930's have been trying to eliminate the social programs, and have never had majority (or public approval) to do that, so they just starved the system of money. And here we are. This generation will be the first generation to pass off an America much worse off, than it was left to them. Now, it is a moral issue.

w-dervish: I agree with you about Obama. I used to be an enthusiastic Obama supporter, but now I'd say I'm a reluctant supporter. However, I still plan on voting for Obama in 2012. I'd much rather he win then the Republican.

Perhaps we'd have a greater chance of pushing Obama to the Left if not for the Obamamaniacs or Liberal Hippies? Surely they are a part of the problem, although I still think we can keep our disagreements respectful... but maybe I'm wrong.

The echo chamber on the left, is getting as bad as the echo chamber on the right has been, for decades.
I received hate mail from two lefties (Leslie-Parsleys Pics and Sue-Hello Mr. President...) just for telling the President to get off his fat ass. I wrote that on MY blog (maybe you read the post) not their blogs.
That kind of Republican like echo chamber will hurt Democrats, and is totally unacceptable to me. I also wrote, that I also will be voting for Obama, as I did in 2008, for the same reason you stated.

Wacko Lefties - Like Any Other Idiot Cultist

Just as right-wing nut jobs blame the bad economy on Obama, so the left-wing nut jobs claim what happened in Wisconsin the other night, is a victory. Both positions are delusions of falsehood.

So let me get this straight: The Republicans win majority in the State Congress (WI) a Republican wins the Governorship (WI) that governor's union busting bill becomes law (backed by judicial review and decision) the people get their recall election and Democrats only win two of the six seats up for recall; and this is what nut job lefties call a win?

Their lack of political judgment, is laughable. These are the idiots I warned of during the Presidential election. Those (Obamamaniacs) who genuflect to some messiah like idol, who is the answer to all our problems. It's the idiotic behavior, like some Randian cultist, that proves these people are political rookies.

But their loony-toon behavior (lefty bloggers) doesn't stop there. After my last post; I had my comments deleted from Leslie Parsley's blog, then she deleted my blog from her blog list. The censorship makes sure that no one knows what I said (no insults, or vulgarity) which was a logical, truthful explanation on the mistakes the President has made in dealing with the Republicans.

Now, with only three people (thank you) who read this blog; I get my mail box full of hate mail from liberals. I wonder how so many liberals got directed to send me hate mail, when so few read my blog? It shows the liberal nut jobs are just as sick as the conservative nut jobs. Just like right-wing nut job bloggers did to me: first censorship, then attack my blog, then irrational hate. The same tactics used against me by the cultist RN and his delusional hate filled minions.

Sorry bitch, the terrorist like tactics and attacks on my blog won't stop me from writing my true opinions. And I'm not alone on my criticisms of the President. I know for sure, those kind of tactics are hate filled and wrong. So if you want me to agree with you, then you will need common sense when discussing the Presidents political strategy, not some MOONIE like total acceptance of his proven failures.

So onto the debate over the Presidents budget, and just like the President emboldened the Republicans when he caved on the Bush tax cuts, so he has emboldened Republicans again with his cave on the debt ceiling agreement.

The panel charged to decide what will be cut has Sen. Kyle as Republicans top man. Do you know Kyle? Do you think fairness will be his guide?

Last night at the Republican debate, every single candidate declared they would not accept any tax increases at all, period. With a 14 trillion-dollar debt, that is an insane position. Just as insane as these loony-toon lefties proclaiming Obama to be the smartest political strategist alive, as Democrats are losing their political battles not only in Washington DC, but all over the country.

When Ron Paul wins the "sanest" of the bunch competition (he won last nights debate-if there was a winner) the Republican party and the country, are in deep do-do. I voted for Ron Paul for President in the 1980's against Ronald Reagan. It was clear Reagan's economic policies would bankrupt America, and History has proven that correct.

Thanks Leslie (and other left-wing nut job hate filled bloggers) for proving yourself to be the same kind of jack ass as the cultist RN and other haters who practice anti-American censorship and hate. Thanks for showing us what you really are, attackers of free speech.

It's hard when your God (Obama) falls from that pedestal you put him up on, but it was your immature mistake, to put him there in the first place.

Now, on with your hate. Give it to me ass holes!

JollyRoger: It was a win. It wasn't 2 out of 6, it was 5 out of 9, and the Rushpubliscum who constitutes the majority of 1 was against Pharaoh Walker's worker-busting. It wasn't spectacular, but it was a blow in the right direction.

In Ohio come November, there will be a REAL, unequivocal win. Czar Kashitch I knows it, so he's gone into Rodney King mode now, crying "Can't we all just get along?" The reason, of course, is if the repeal of SB5 stays on the ballot, his ability to fuck with Ohio state employees is over. So he's trying to reach a "compromise" with the unions NOW, so that Scammon Jones can introduce an even WORSE pile of shit bill LATER.

Funny, how that smirking piece of shit is no longer telling people to either get on the bus, or get run over.

dmarks: Any success Ron Paul has now is the maximization of an artifact in the poll results. When you get right down to it, the man campaigns for and captures the hearts of 1 or 2% of the American public. Once the real primaries get under way, he will vanish again.

As for voting for Ron Paul as an independent in 1980 against Reagan, he was not an actual candidate. Just a joke/spoiler. A vote for him was really a vote for Jimmy Carter. I don't see you having a big problem with that, since you tend toward the left anyway.

Don't Criticize The President?

Subject: Obama sucks.

Why not?

I wasn't looking for a George Bush clone when I voted for Obama. I was never a Obamamanic. I don't want Bush lite for my President. I won't bow to the President, just because he's a Democrat. Simply being a Democrat doesn't mean a thing, if he's going to follow Republican failed policies.

I wanted single payer, which he was for at the start of his campaign, because it is the best way to insure all Americans. I don't need, or want a Democratic President to extend the Bush tax cuts which have been increasing the debt for ten years now.

We need a Democratic President to lead and define Democratic principles and policies. We need a leader who will lead the people to support the programs that have stabilized this country, so business could grow and make obscene amounts of money.We need a President to be honest with Americans about our finances. What we have is a President who is just kicking the can down the road, not leading.

We are lowering our standards to meet the rest of the World, not leading new standards to enhance ourselves and the rest of the World.

Republicans have killed capitalism. Money is not supposed to just sit around. It is to be used to boost innovation, employment, consumerism, and the economy. Not only are companies sitting on their money; but supply and demand principles are not working. We are not paying the demand price of oil, or most other products. Prices are set to ensure a profit, even at these low consumer buying times.

Where is the economic activity the Republicans promised with their tax cut policies? We need an infusion of employment and cash into the economy. If corporations won't do it, then government has to, or we will be in this economic disaster for decades.

An old capitalist saying: You have to spend money to make money.

Money is the grease that keeps a capitalist engine going. Dry up the money and of course capitalism slows down. Put five million people to work on government payroll, that will infuse the economy with cash, buying, and optimism.

This defeatist attitude by the Republicans is turning what should have been a short economic downturn into a generational economic disaster.

No more money. Don't invest in America. Don't help Americans who are broke, starving, and unemployed.

BULLSHIT!

Hey Mr. President, get off your fat ass and do something besides agreeing with Historically failed Republican policies! There are proven ways to jump-start an economy; and it's also proven that the Republican tax cut strategy, is not one of those ways. If you jump-start this economy you won't have to worry about some conservative, or independent votes to get you reelected, you will win in a landslide.

dmarks: Reality: The W tax cuts were mostly for the middle class. Not the rich. But anyway. As for Bernie Sanders, it's a shame he isn't home gardening instead of being in Washington. He's a hardline economic fascist, and can be counted on typically to vote in favor of the ruling elites and against the people. A 20-year younger would still be no more popular than Ron Paul: if you, like Paul, campaign in the interests of a tiny number of people, you will get the support of a tiny number of people.

As for Tom's main point toward the end: "If you jump-start this economy you won't have to worry..."

I think with Obama what you see is what you get. I don't think it's likely he is going to make some big change, and he will probably just keep doing what he has been doing so far.

Dervish Sanders: I agree with a lot of what you write here Tom. Except that Obama was prevented from doing much due to Republican obstruction (AKA The Caucus Room Conspiracy). I do agree with you about Single Payer and The bush tax cuts. Obama should have fought harder for the former and never agreed to the latter. Obama is a Blue Dog corporatist Democrat in the Bill Clinton mold. I surely would not attack you for expressing your thoughts on this fact. I do, however, find your comments (submitted to my blog) accusing me of being a "natural hater" and of having "hate blogs" to be annoying. As well as perplexing. I don't know why you'd attack me when I've never attacked you. Perhaps if you wish to keep commenting on my blog you can try to stay on topic?

Is This So Hard ?

Subject: Before the Hate.

We only have a spending problem, if we do not want, or need what we are paying for. Since Americans do want their Social Security, Medicare, etc., then we have a revenue problem. Americans need military services. Maybe not at the level we have now, but certainly we cannot eliminate a military.

If we spend on infrastructure, education and other things that will pay future dividends, those are worthy and needed investments.

Everyone talks about settling the current deficit. No mention of eliminating the national debt. We need to attack that debt, to leave future Americans the ability to make choices for themselves and their decedents.

We have a huge debt, because we paid taxes at a rate lower than our spending. I find Republicans have no credibility when it comes to demanding spending cuts. They got their tax cuts starting 30 years ago, but never cut spending and were never concerned about the national debt.

Now, they are willing to cause financial ruin in the United States and the World, just to push a lie of concern for our fiscal problems, to make the President look bad and lose the coming election.

Why do people even listen to those who created the problem in the first place? Would we listen to a drunk drivers excuse after he killed someone?

It truly comes down to simple Math. We already know these elected officials cannot add, or subtract, so we must do their Math for them; not to mention pay dearly for their lack of not doing their jobs.

Republicans keep blaming the President for our situation. While that goes on, our situation gets worse. Republicans have a defeatist attitude, when they say the only answer, is to gut the government with their tax cuts.

Investing in the future of our people and our country, is the only smart way out of this situation.

Spaced Out

Subject: Before the Hate.

The Atlantis shuttle took off this morning for the last time. The last time NASA will send another manned space craft into space. From now on we have to hitch (at the cost of tens of millions of dollars) a ride into space with the Russians.

In the near future private corporations will send manned space crafts into space. Private corporations will exploit space, not explore space. For you conservatives who think that's the best choice, you have won (killed another government program by starving the money from it).

It will be interesting how space exploration will evolve with States all over the World sending crafts into space against American corporations. It will be the tourist flights against the scientific work. "Reality show" space travel against the "Science channel" network of serious investigation.

The laws about human behavior, rights, and conduct in space, have not been written. It will be interesting to see how private corporations up against State sponsored space fleets, will negotiate their property, or orbit (flight routes) rights. Maybe they will just demand what they want, use corporate spies and vandalism, or as typical capitalists, just push them off the corner.

Add to the list of things we have surrendered to the rest of the World (manufacturing, production, autos, textiles, appliances, TV's, etc., etc….) space flight.

I can't wait for the private police of our society, or fire departments, or libraries, or anything else normally delegated to the State to run on behalf of the people. And yes, with those pesky government regulations to protect individual rights for all.

Things are cyclical, and some day Americans will come back to the idea of communal taxation for the benefit of all. For now I guess WalMart will build its own roads and sewers when they build a new store.

Hope you can afford private services. Don't miss a payment, or when you call for help the private police, fireman, or EMT will say sorry we cannot service you for the crook in your house, house fire, or heart attack, because you had a late, or no payment.

The rich will have police. The rich will have fire departments, and the rich will be able to fly in space. I quote another line from JFK, who challenged Americans to be first in space:

"If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few that are rich".

I wonder if corporations will be satisfied servicing (making a profit) the small percentage of the people who can afford service, and of course for the rest, welcome to the third World State of America.

Government by the corporation, for the corporations.

Good luck with your Private Corporation of the United States.

That is the Orwellian nightmare.

TOM Wordpress: Before 2006 (when Democrats regained control of the Congress) when GB was President and had majority in the Congress; Congress voted to cut NASA spending. It's not just one, it was the whole lot of them. That was after his father had mentioned going to Mars. Going to Mars would have meant a huge increase in NASA's budget to fulfill. Instead Mars was trashed, and so was NASA's budget. I do not know the status of the new space vehicle that was supposed to replace the shuttle. It was supposed to be a seamless turnover, and the new space craft should have been flying by now.

Liberal Rant

Subject: A post written back when identified as Liberal (before I went insane). I still say I'm Liberal, but that assertion is a lie.

We are an independent people, working hard to scratch out a living, hopefully a good living. That leads, by necessity, to be concerned for our own families well-being and future. We are also a compassionate people, willing to help our neighbors, near and far away.

In the days of the industrial revolution, life for many of our citizens was grim. It wasn't until after WWII that a solid middle class took hold, and a majority of our citizens were able to live a much better life. One of the reasons for the up lift in our society, were the federal safety net programs started in the 1930’s, and expanded in the 1960's.

Before then if a family needed help they went to religious, fraternal, or community based groups. Lack of food, shelter, and medical care was literally causing premature death among our people. It’s no mystery that as those basic needs became more abundant, our life expectancy increased. There was much suffering. People starving and dying in the streets. Deep poverty and early death among our senior citizens. Horrible working conditions and child (slave) labor.

During the great depression the problem got so bad that even the best intentions of the good-hearted help groups, were not enough to meet the needs of even a minority of the people in need. Those groups were overwhelmed by the number of people in distress, and their contributions were down because people had less money to give.

When FDR came along, the situation was serious, a national crisis. He had some ideas to stop the suffering and help the people. Those ideas involved national programs to help the whole nation, and they worked. The people had seen and lived through enough, they were willing to give more to help ease the suffering for all. Along with new laws to curb abuses, and yes, unions to negotiate for better working conditions, life improved greatly for millions of our citizens.

If conservatives want to reject that liberal political philosophy, or call it socialist, they should remember it is part of why we claim to be the best country in the world. Many problems are to big to be left to the charity of capitalists, or the philosophy of trickle down economics. The only way a job is the best self-help program, is if that job pays enough to live within the current economic situation.

I would think that companies would want to relieve themselves from paying for medical insurance for their employees. I believe that a consumption tax is more natural for a capitalistic system than an income tax. Most of all, I can’t believe we are going to watch all the hard work and suffering our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents put into making life so much better than anywhere else in the world, fade away because we are to selfish to care about our neighbors and the people of our whole country.

Basically I believe the government should stay out of my bedroom and out of my pockets, but it’s not a matter of one political philosophy. It's a matter of what’s best for the country.

We have to change our priorities. Is it more important to worry about whose married to who, or how we are going to meet our financial obligations? Is it more important to pander to our selfishness by saying "no new taxes", or invest in the future of our country and the well-being of our people? When does this generation (as every other generation has before us) make a real hard sacrifice to ensure the future health of this country? The sacrifice we need to make now, is a financial one, not a military one.

So what kind of society are you willing to pay for?

Libraries closed, schools closed, mental patients tossed out in the streets (where they cause crime), a 14 TRILLION dollar national debt, people dying in emergency waiting rooms, lack of proper military troop supplies, breaking our promise to our senior citizens for lack of funds (that the Congress spent on other things), a dangerous addiction to Arab oil because we won’t invest in our own fuel sources, and on, and on, and on.

Why are we no longer willing to pay to remain the best country in the world?

Why should we settle for future generations having less of a quality of life, than we have been given from our parents and grandparents?

Sue: Tom, I'm sorry! I didn't know I had to update my bloglist because you switched to wordpress, I will get right on that! As always your commentary posts are well said, beautifully written, and, as always, I agree with every word.

The Republican party has gone so far right because of the tea party I’m afraid they are putting the last nails in the coffin. Their extremism is not what the country wants and I know our side will win out in the end. I've never been more confident.

I agree that Republicans are destroying what generations of Americans have built, and are surely wrecking the future. Obviously they just don't care.

By The People, For The People

Subject: "I remain liberal only in the sense that as long as government is wasting our money, I would rather they waste it on programs that go to individuals, not the corporate rich, or the military".

I doubt I'm wrong when I say the Republicans most famous and beloved President, is Abraham Lincoln. He is my favorite President also.

His famous line... government by the people, for the people... shall not perish...

Seems today's Republicans do not honor President Lincoln, or agree with his description of America.

Republicans have no concern for "the people".

Before FDR, Republicans had screwed the country up so bad, they created the "Great Depression". Their policies of cut taxes back in the 1920's favoring the corporations, Wall Street, and the rich (sound familiar) left "the people" out in the cold.

One big difference back then; there were no safety net programs, to help the starving people of America. The starvation and economic collapse continued until FDR became President. FDR enacted programs like Social Security (that the majority of Americans supported) to help ease the dying and suffering.

These "social" programs saved the lives of hundreds of thousands (maybe more) of Americans. These were not "social" programs in the sense of a Socialist Stalin forced government; but were "government by the people, for the people". Americans wanted and supported these policies; proven by the majority of Americans voting for FDR an unprecedented four times. Not a political fluke, or fad by any means.

The American people also knew they had to, and did, pay for those programs by taxing themselves at a higher rate, than ever before in American History. They understood that the poverty of their fellow Americans was not only their moral responsibility, but ended the instability that was dangerous to the country. They understood, that to build the greatest country in the World took money, and plenty of it.

The dictators of the World like Stalin only had to confiscate the wealth of his country. Americans had to give, freely, through taxation, to ensure having the best military, infrastructure, space program, highway system, medical, lifestyle, etc., etc.

Seems the Americans of the 20th century understood the sacrifices needed to build the greatest country ever on the face of the Earth. Seems the Americans of the 21st century not only don't understand sacrifice for country, but selfishly want to tear down what generations of Americans have spent blood and paid their hard-earned money to build.

Who are we to be the first generation of Americans, to leave America worse off, than it was left to us? And why, because we won't cough up a few dollars?

As Republicans continue to destroy what generations of Americans have willingly built; surely they are wrecking the future of the American people. Somehow Republicans equate progress for all the people, with Socialism.

I will continue to honor Abraham Lincoln and his description of America as being "by the people and for the people".

w-dervish: I thought Reagan was the most beloved Republican president. In Lincoln's day the Republicans were a reform party... this was prior to their sell-out to the wealthy and corporations.

TOM Wordpress: I thought I would get a disagreement about Lincoln being the most beloved Republican President; and I suppose today’s Republicans would rate Reagan higher than Lincoln, which only shows how off course Republicans have become. Yes, Republicans would like to go back to the governemnt of Coolidge and pre WW II.To bad they have not learned the lessons of History, or they would know that will not work. dmarks: I'm all for a safety net, but not for the well-off and wealthy. They don't need it. In recent history, the Democrats have come out as being more in favor of handouts to the wealthy. Look at the massive giveaway called TARP (most Republicans voted against it), and the curious case of SCHIP... supposedly for needy children. The Democrats favored expanding it to adults of means, while the Republicans wanted it limited to needy children.

(As for my view on TARP and the Wall-Street bailouts: I side with most Republicans and a minority of more hardline leftist Democrats: I opposed it all).

w-dervish: More Republicans may have voted against TARP, but that doesn't mean they were against it. George bush signed TARP. If more Republican votes had been necessary for it to pass more Republicans would have voted for it. There was no way this thing wasn't going to pass.

Republicans knew they could vote against it, it would pass anyway, and the ILLUSION that they are in favor of the "free market" would be maintained (thus placating the portion of their deluded base that believes the "free market" nonsense).

Republicans are the ones who champion legislation that benefits the wealthy (almost exclusively). The Democrats also champion legislation that benefits the wealthy, but that's because they need money to run their campaigns (excluding blue dogs, who are really the Republican-lite wing of the Democratic Party). Democrats also champion legislation that benefits the rest of us… Legislation the Republicans almost always oppose.

dmarks: I tend to think they were not needed. Wall Street does not need any handouts. If GM and Chrysler had gone bankrupt (no bailouts) they would have survived. Bankruptcy would have merely made them much better able to fend off creditors.

TOM Wordpress: The main reason given for the use of bailout. was to save the jobs, not only for the parent companies, but other companies (jobs) down the line.

Political Choices

Subject: Voting.

If you vote, are you going to vote for a partisan ideology, or what's best for America?

Are you going to be led by some party talking points, or policies that will really help America?

Will continuing to cut taxes be the answer to our country's problems? We have had 30 years of the "cut taxes" policies and see where that has got us.

Extremism cannot govern the country; which is why we cannot seem to solve our problems. Extremist politicians are controlling the debate.

Has common sense and common sacrifice disappeared from the American people's character? Seems so.

Do you think a minority viewpoint, or party can govern? The Green Party has a good candidate. Ayn Rand (political cult of the last century) has current followers like Mr. Ryan. Is Mr. Ryan's budget realistic, or going to work for America?

Can we finally (since the Regan tax revolution) accept that the "cut tax" ideology has not worked, in fact made things worse?

Will we be better off with a President who doesn't even know what Paul Revere did?

Seems the current crop of candidates (Republican) can only add material for our society's comics.

Lots of questions, that need some serious contemplation.

As the saying goes: We need serious people, to help solve our serious problems.

Leslie Parsley: We are a country populated by people with diverse views, which is why, imo, I don't think an "extremist" party of either political persuasion can get elected. And, frankly, this is the only thing that gives me a glimmer of hope for 2012 – providing people can actually cast their votes. : (

I never used to hate the political opposition, but lately I have found myself thinking just that.
There have always been extremists in politics, but never so close to majority.
The Reagan revolution also brought in the right wing Christians and leaders like Helms. For me, that’s when it all started getting crazy and unhealthy for America.

President Obama said that shortly after he won election, about 2-1/2 years ago.
