How Do You Debate?

SAW 20110315.

This is a post from my Wordpress blog Stay A While, along with the comments. I decided to duplicate my Wordpress blog comments (along with all comments) on Blogger for posterity. Also because I lost my Wordpress password and haven't been able to recover my account. So I just copied everything over and changed the publish dates. Anyway, enjoy.

Subject: Liberal Scum.

How do you debate with someone like Dmarks who states "Unions have nothing to do with the middle class". OR, "there were WMD's in Iraq", even though Bush, his administration, and the U.S. military (after a 2 year search) said there were no WMD's. Or, Clinton never passed a balanced budget, even though the Republican leaders said he did pass a balanced budget, because they were in majority at the time and voted to pass that balanced budget. Yet this idiot Dmarks calls me a racist.

TAO stopped his blog and started a group blog called "Democracy Central" which I was one of the first members. This "Democracy Central" blog did nothing for almost a year, then he lets known, proven trolls and blog attackers guest post. So I quit Democracy Central. I don't want to be a member of a blog that gives voice to such scum. Now TAO says I quit simply because I did not want to talk with this scum, but yet I'm ALL OVER THE INTERNET talking with him. I am not all over the Internet talking with this scum. I replied to a comment he made to me at ONE other blog, period. Thanks TAO for misrepresenting the facts and supporting a blog attacking troll. Good luck with your year old blog. By the way where is Bluepitbull's guest post?. Check your facts before you spew your garbage.

Of course I have a blog, but will they bring their complaints to ME – NO, the chicken shit cowards. They hide behind their fellow idiots for support and coverage. I would drop dead if one of their buddies had the guts to call their fellow commentators WRONG. So I have the right to believe that they all believe this crap.

RN is so upset about the above facts, that he wrote a post saying how dumb I am. Here's your post in reply since you are to cowardly to come to my blog and make those idiotic statements. I had the guts to write a comment on your blog, but surprise, you refused to publish it as of this post, coward.

There are many more examples (I'd like to hear yours) of these kind of proven false statements, that we are supposed to take as truth, just because they are uttered. BULLSHIT! When are these liars going to be put on the carpet and called what they are, delusional liars.

I don't care if a majority of Americans believe Obama was not born in America, they are wrong, been proven wrong, and are idiot racists.

I don't care if some believe there were WMD's, there were not and these idiots should be identified as liars, yes, even by their fellow blog buddies, or else people have every right to believe these blog buddies also believe this crap. Which makes them idiots, and I will say so.

So have your fun you cowards. You liars. You idiots. You supporters of scum.

I guess what pisses you off most, is that I won't lower myself to your level and believe this crap, keep my mouth shut, let you lie your way around the facts, or follow rules of civility when I am called racist.

You cannot debate with these idiots. They take off without facts and spew their emotions, regardless of the consequences. THIS is why we are in trouble. These idiots believe their own garbage. They believe the country would be better off broke. They believe people do not matter.

Have a nice life living your delusions.

Sue: It's not worth it Tom, just stick to your blog and your terrific and honest writing. We, your friends, know you have never written anything but the truth, never have you lied or fabricated anything. You give your opinions and that should be respected, if some don't like what they read here they can go on to the next blog. I don't understand the fighting. BTW, RN said something to me about deleting opposing opinions but he has deleted my comments before. I have never deleted his.

BB-Idaho: There is no arguing with Dmarks. He is plain wrong on Iraq WMDs and plain wrong on the Clinton surplus. Just leave him in his fantasy world.3

Freedom of Speech

This is the famous painting by Norman Rockwell titled "Freedom of Speech". It has become an icon of the most basic of American values. An individual getting up in a town hall meeting, and calmly giving his opinion of an issue before a legislator votes on that issue.

Expressing one's view on how his government should set law on any given issue in a calm, uninterrupted manner, is the rock our freedoms are based on. Respecting the views of all Americans, each American has their time to speak up and state their position.

The goal might be to get a politician to vote one way, or another, but the reality is that you have a right to voice your views, without intimidation.

The same goes for the treatment given to a politician at the town hall meeting. You may disagree with the politicians viewpoint on an issue, but he has a right to be heard without intimidation, just as a citizen does. This has been the hallmark of the debate of issues, within the free people of America.

Over this weekend, many politicians held town hall meetings about the health care issue. An issue that the polls tell us, a majority of Americans want to see a change in the system we now have. Yet, these usually lightly attended and calm proceedings, were met in more than one venue, with the loud screaming and shout down of the politicians speaking at the town hall event.

They were all Democratic party speakers. The shouting citizens were all against the change in the health care system the Congress is considering. The meetings were worthless, because the exchange of ideas and definition of the legislation never took place. The citizens were successful in shouting down the speakers. One Democratic representative had to be escorted out of the hall by 5 policemen.

This would all seem very America except that these citizens were not voicing their individual concerns. These people were part of a organized effort, backed by corporate lobbyist, to defeat the current Congressional legislation on health care.

They hijacked and twisted the age old tradition of free speech in an open town hall meeting. The politicians were not able to speak, but worse, citizens speaking for the legislation were shouted down and not able to voice their opinion in a calm manner heard by all.

These are the actions more comparable to the "brown shirts" of early Nazi Germans, not the actions of sincere people voicing a deep concern. The brown shirts of Germany used to go to town hall meetings and disrupt those meetings by shouting down the majority view, and then out in the streets would physically attack the meeting attendees.

I read no reports of any attacks on people, but our calm system of debate, was stopped. Whether you are for, or against the current legislation, we must all be against this kind of fascist behavior. Intimidation has no place in a democracy of ideas, freely voicing those ideas, or allowing those from the government and the public to voice their concerns about future legislative action.

Money, intimidation, and fear is how corporate America has a louder voice than individual Americans.

Tom
